CDX Plywood is used primarily by contractors to build exterior walls and roofs. CDX plywood has one side veneer grade “C” and one side veneer grade “D”. The two are bonded together with glue which can withstand a little moisture.
AC plywood is made from thin sheets of wood pressed tightly together to create a durable and strong piece of plywood. One side of it is sanded and finished which makes it graded “A”. The other side of the board is not sanded or finished, so it is graded “C”.
Uses include a variety of applications such as millwork, furniture production, structural/industrial applications, pattern making, plywood underlayment, form work, home improvement, and minor construction projects.
There are major differences between Baltic birch and birch. Baltic birch has about twice as many plys, does not use any filler wood, and has thicker outer layers. Typical birch plywood will have 5 to 7 plys for a 3/4-inch thick board, whereas Baltic birch will have about twice that amount.
Luan plywood (also known as Luan Plywood) is a commercial term used throughout the United States that typically refers to a 1/8" - 1/4" tropical hardwood plywood panel used for underlayment in flooring, lamination, paper overlay, furniture, and millwork applications.
OSB is a material with favorable mechanical properties that make it particularly suitable for load-bearing applications in construction. The most common uses are as sheathing in walls, flooring, and roof decking.
Treated plywood is the basic building block for almost everything in your house. Preservatives are applied on the wood's surface and penetrate deeply into the wood's layers. This protects the plywood against decay and termite invasion.
Medium-Density Overlay plywood is an all-purpose, specialty plywood that can be used for a large variety of projects and applications. It is built for exterior use but can also be used anywhere regular plywood is used.
Plywood siding is an all-wood exterior-grade panel. It is ideal for siding applications from new home construction, utility buildings, planters, dog houses and other remodeling or do-it-yourself-projects. Plywood siding features a rough-sawn textured face for a beautiful rustic appearance.
Constructed from a manufactured-wood substrate, like MDF or plywood, that has been covered in melamine laminate. The melamine resin gives these otherwise lower-quality materials a very durable and attractive finish. Can be ordered in covered in one or both sides.
Medium Density Fiberboard is basically engineered wood obtained by breaking down hardwood and softwood composites. Since it is made up of small wood fibers, there are no visible wood grains or knots. The fibres are joined together, using wax to produce panels by applying pressure or high temperature.
Douglas fir is a softwood plywood typically sold in 4-by-8 panels of varying thickness. It is a common building product available in a range of grades and ratings for a variety of applications.
